Bible Study at St. James

The Bible Study group at St. James meets in the parish library from 10:45 until just before the Thursday 12:05 Eucharist.  We read and discuss the upcoming Sunday lectionary passages with the intent of familiarizing ourselves with the historical and contextual meaning of the passages and then applying those meanings to our devotional lives and our ongoing conversion.  We think it helps to prepare ourselves for the Sunday Eucharist and sermon.  The discussion is lively, participation is engaging, and we are always open and welcoming to those who would like to join us.  Since the discussions are self-contained please feel free to attend as you are able.

Next Sunday's Readings:

For a full text of the Sunday Bible readings, following the Revised Common Lectionary, click on the link provided below. The text is from the NRSV translation of the Bible (except for the Episcopal Psalm, which is from the US Book of Common Prayer) and is in RTF format, which is editable by nearly all word processors. Clicking on one of the links below will probably bring up a "helper program" (WordPad or MS Word if you have Windows). You may then either read the file, or save it to disk and then read or edit it with your favorite Word Processor. You will also find the Daily Office Lectionary when you visit The Lectionary Page.
